What is the 75 Holy Challenge?

You may have seen a challenge on social media called “75 Holy”, and perhaps you’ve even attempted to participate. We’re going to dig into what the 75 Holy Challenge is, how it can impact your faith, and I’ll show you a great resource to help you actually stick with it and complete the challenge!

WHAT IS THE 75 HOLY CHALLENGE?

The 75 Holy Challenge is a faith-based spin on 75 Hard, which challenges participants to stick with a healthy workout and diet routine for 75 straight days. In the faith-based version of 75 Holy, participants focus on building spiritual disciplines and growing stronger in their relationship with God.

The idea behind sticking with something for 75 days is this: it’s a long enough period of time that, if you stay consistent, will help you create new, healthy habits. It’s also long enough to be difficult, but not so long that you give up easily.

HOW CAN 75 HOLY IMPACT MY FAITH?

As I mentioned, the goal is to help you build spiritual disciplines. Through a dedicated 75 days focused on spiritual disciplines, you will grow closer to God. You will learn to rely on Him as the challenge gets more difficult, learn more about Him as you spend more time in your Bible, and hopefully become more like Christ as you mature over the course of your 75 Holy days.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN 75 HOLY CHALLENGE

I truly believe that each person’s 75 Holy Challenge will look a bit different, as we are all in different seasons of life with different circumstances. I’ve created a 75 Holy Workbook that helps you design your own experience. Rather than giving you a list of “to-do’s”, you choose your own, based on three categories:

CATEGORY 1: Abide in God’s Word & Presence

To abide in God’s Word and presence means to focus on building habits that draw you closer to the Lord through scripture, prayer, and worship. Some examples may include:

  • Daily Bible Reading – Follow a set reading plan or read a portion daily. (John 15:7)
  • Dedicated Prayer Time – Minimum set time each day in focused conversation with God. (Philippians 4:6)
  • Scripture Memory – Memorize 1 verse a day or 1 passage per week. (Psalm 119:11)
  • Worship Time – Sing, play music, or listen to worship daily. (Psalm 95:1-2)
  • Bible Study Journaling – Record insights and applications from daily reading. (James 1:22)
  • Meditation on Scripture – Choose 1 verse or passage to meditate on for 10+ minutes daily. (Joshua 1:8)
  • Read a Christian Book – Minimum 15 minutes daily of biblically sound teaching. (Proverbs 4:7)
  • Write Scripture – Write a chapter of the Bible each day. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

CATEGORY 2: Steward Your Life & Resources

In this category, your focus will be on honoring God with your time, finances, relationships, and possessions. Examples of action items in this category might include:

  • Tithe/Give Generously – Set aside the first portion of income or give above and beyond. (Proverbs 3:9)
  • No Unnecessary Spending – Commit to buying only needs, not wants, for 75 days. (Hebrews 13:5)
  • Budget Tracking – Record every dollar spent and review weekly. (Luke 16:10-11)
  • Declutter & Donate – Remove items you don’t use and give to those in need. (Acts 20:35)
  • Practice Gratitude – Write down 3 things you’re thankful for daily. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
  • Intentional Encouragement – Send a note, text, or call to lift someone up daily. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • Digital Boundaries – Set a daily limit for social media/phone use and stick to it. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

CATEGORY 3: Care for Your Body, Mind & Mission

In the last category, you will focus on your physical health, mental clarity, and actively living out your calling. For this category, you might include:

  • Daily Movement – Walk, stretch, or exercise for at least 20–30 minutes. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
  • Drink More Water – Replace sugary drinks with water; set a daily goal. (Genesis 2:10)
  • Eat Nourishing Foods – Choose whole, God-made foods over processed options. (Daniel 1:12-15)
  • Sleep Stewardship – Commit to a set bedtime/wake-up time for healthy rest. (Psalm 4:8)
  • Share Your Faith – Tell someone about Jesus at least once a week. (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • Acts of Service – Volunteer, help a neighbor, or serve in your church. (Galatians 5:13)

In addition to choosing a couple of action items from each category, I highly recommend also keeping the Sabbath weekly. Rest is vital to our relationships, both with God and with people, and teaches us to rely on Him.
